Blasphemous Garbage

Now I'm not one to call blasphemy all that often, but I think this one definitely deserves it.

If you went to a college like mine, you may have seen those "Christians" that stand in High Traffic areas and try to engage students in discussion by condemning them all to hell. Well whatever group they're from, they have nothing on these people...Westboro Baptist Church, and their "apostolate" Signs of the times.

Well, they have another website... priestsrapeboys.com.

Here is a snippet:

BTW, does anyone really think that in between the time that the priests diddle the little boys and then feed the idolaters the goofy 'eucharist' wafers, that they even wash their hands? (tmi?) 'Priests rape boys' is indeed an air-tight, three word case against all of the Catholic Church's parishioners, without exception. They are all going to hell!

And check out the video! Its ridiculous. Its amusing how ridiculous it is.

This video was removed from YouTube, due to its nature, but is still on Google Videos. In fact, if you type in "Catholic" to any of these video search engines, you get a lot of people attacking the Church, from a few various viewpoints... This being by far the worst. You get your share of "former priests" who are now out to teach true Christian Doctrine. I'm not saying that's bad... These videos have a right to be there... But where are the Catholic ones at? Why aren't there more Catholic Video Bloggers out there putting stuff on the You Tube and Google Video? I'm looking at you Jimmy Akin!

I find these types of groups and their assertions to be the epitome of irony. In their ignorance, they are guilty of exactly what they accuse Christ's Church. I include a passage from scripture here, note especially verse 11.

Trying to have a serious discussion with them is nearly impossible and fruitless. The only time I've ever been successful is when I have forced the discussion to remain on one specific topic such as the primacy of Peter and the Papacy, or the reality of the Eucharist. Even then however, they typically will just cease to discuss the topic after they can't make any reasonable points and can't logically, reasonably, or faithfully refute any of your the points. They will go away with some silly parting shot like "your tricky argument filled with so much human reason and logic just proves that Catholics have corrupted the simple truth of the Bible and that the Catholic Church is a powerful manipulating cult". I have found this particularly true when showing a Fundy through the literal interpretation of Scripture the truth of the Eucharist. They start to go away from the "simple literal truth" and begin to make incredibly fantastic assertions that don't follow their own pattern of exegecis. The best thing to do is to point out their inconsistency to them, say that it is dishonest, and declare that the error stems from embracing a theological tradition of men that forces them to interpret Scripture in light of these erroneous man made traditions. End by stating that "you find it disturbing and pointless to have a theological discussion with someone when you can't trust them to be forthright in their communication with you because they obviously aren't being honest with themselves when they will say anything to protect a belief they recognize through the literal interpretation of Scripture to be false."

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered them, "Take heed that no one leads you astray.
Mat 24:5 For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray.
Mat 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must take place, but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places:
Mat 24:8 all this is but the beginning of the birth-pangs.
Mat 24:9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation, and put you to death; and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake.
Mat 24:10 And then many will fall away, and betray one another, and hate one another.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.
Mat 24:12 And because wickedness is multiplied, most men's love will grow cold.
Mat 24:13 But he who endures to the end will be saved.

Thanks for posting this...it's frustrating to see, but a reminder to us that we've really got to stand up for what the Church is and what She believes. I agree with pyro above that a discussion is nearly impossible, we remember all to well Bible Jim's rantings in Red Square. I think the most successful thing we ever did was stand next to him and quietly pray a rosary (were you there that day?). Anyway, it'll make us keep on studying our faith and knowing that we've got a solid rock to stand on when facing these guys (pun absolutely intended!)

These folks prove our point of why we need a magisterium and how sola scriptura doesn't work. They believe God shows them from the Bible it's ok to hate homosexuals, blacks, jews, other christians etc. Lord have mercy
