Summer Assignment

I was told a few weks ago by my vocation director that I'd be stationed in Burien Washington this summer. But it turns out I'll be somewhere else instead...

St. James Cathedral! Downtown Seattle!

I'm pretty excited to be here. My friend (who will be ordained this year) Michael did his CPE at the parish, and had a good time. I'll let you all know how well it goes.

Tomfoolery,
I hardly knew you in College, but I'm stoked that you got St. James. Excellent fun holy times! Several Catholic bloggers from WA have your blog linked.

Seminarian,

Congrats on your summer assignment. I am a friend of the Herrings and attend the same parish as Tom's parents. God bless you in your priestly formation. Take the time while you are at the Cathedral to enjoy the art. In particular, study the painting in the "winter chapel". It is wonderful and has an interesting history.

Can't help but to ask what they've done to the High Altar... It is sad that the traditional focal point of worship has been neglected and shown little if not no respect anymore. The new generation of priests must restore tradition in the Church. It has always been the practice of the Church to retain and incoporate what had once been part of public worship.

All the best for your assignment. May God continue to pour down His blessing on you as you continue your priestly formation for the Church of Jesus Christ!!
